I'm searching for a petrol auto estate car for the other half with a budget of up to £6k and have found a Mazda 6 TS2 within my budget, but with what I would consider very high miles for a 3 or 4 year old car, 130,000 miles. The advert says "full service history" so what's the opinion on this car, worth considering or one to avoid? The car will be used mainly for commuting, approx. 5,000 miles a year.

Any thoughts on the matter appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

Budget on anywhere between 8-15000 miles a year, making this a bit of a risk IMO. Cars are generally "lifed" at 150,000 miles in terms of things like clutches and other stuff which is hard to get to, so it could end up being expensive. If it's had an easy life it might be fine, but I'm struggling to think of why anyone would buy a car in that sort of spec to do mega miles.

Thanks for those links. I did have a look at one Mondeo, a 1.8. I didn't realise a 2.3 would fall into the £280 tax bracket, which is also one of my considerations, but checking the number plate against the DVLA info, it does, so that broadens my search criteria a bit.

Does this version of the Mondeo still come with the heated front screen? When I had an ST24, that was a really useful feature.

Cheers,
Steve

I think I agree with you, which is why I posted the question in the first place, I guess. Its odd that the purchaser didn't opt for a diesel, considering the number of miles.

My Dad had a 58 Plate 2.0 TDCI Zetec and that did and as these are of the higher titanium/titanium x I would be amazed if they don't as they come fully loaded.

Also just to add he did 110k miles in 3 years and not a single thing went wrong! They are also very nice to drive and unbelievably spacious inside think in-between a 5 and 7 series in the back almost...
