Hi everyone, me and my girlfriend are planning a road trip this july to Europe in my Alfa Spider.

We have a rough route on where we would like to go and we have allocated 2 weeks to do it, however after the places we have decided on it only comes to around 10 days.

Day 1 drive to folkestone get the train to calais then stay in calais
Day 2 drive to the Nurburgring
Day 3 a lap of the Nurburgring and then to Strasbourg
Day 4 drive to Lucerne
Day 5 Drive to lake como including the gotthard pass (not sure on spelling)
Day 6 spend at lake como
Day 7 drive to milan
Day 8 drive to Geneva
Day 9 drive to Paris
Day 10 spend in Paris
Day 11 Drive back home

Any help or advice on our current stop overs would be much appreciated or any other places of interest to stop over would be a great help!

thanks in advance

From Milan it would be worth heading to Switzerland, stay in adermatt, there are some lovely passes around there (firkel, syston etc)

I did a similar trip last year. We went through france via Lyon and up through Turin and Milan and on to the Stelvio Pass and Fluela Pass in Switzerland.

The fluela pass is the best road I have ever driven on to this day. Well worth a visit.

Get ferry, night crossing.
Get off ferry.
Take route, decided the night before.
Drive until you've had enough, find hotel.
Get up, decided on the general direction.
Drive until you've had enough, find hotel.
Repeat the above until you've had enough.
Book ferry, return home.
Works for me, at least the last 3 trips it did. Usually away 8 or 9 days and travel about 2000 miles.

As I was with Dave I can agree this works well. never a issue as I did it with him on my Motorcycle.

Below is a link to the sticky at the top of the Roads page with links to lots of write ups of Euro road trips. Have a read through them and hopefully it should give you some ideas of any roads or areas that you may want to factor into your trip.

I did an extended version of what you suggest for our honeymoon last year;

That's page9 of my readers cars thread where it begins, there's maps & lots & lots of photos!

If you want details & photos of a ring/spa trip then start reading at page7

If you want to be bored reading about a mini GP2, start at page1!
