so need to insure my car and cheapest i can find is around £1200 mark (3rd pty, fire, theft). Spent all night adjusting details and going found all the obvious sites like confused, moneysupermarket etc etc. even directly to the sites like direct line and that was even worse!

I know they dont make it easy for 1st year drivers so i was expecting it to be higher than what i paid for the car but before i part with my cash i want to try as many as possible.

On the scale of things, 1200 is pretty cheap nowadays.

After moving onto my own policy, Admiral and Elephant were the cheapest by a large margin. £1200 for an E46 M3, 23 year old with 0 NCB because they were non-transferrable as a named driver.

Yeah i think it is cheap to be fair and thats without the little box being fitted to your car. with the box im looking at £850 a year. but i think the box would be a bad move. im 25 in november so im expecting it to go down a bit then.

In my first 2 years of driving insurance was >£2,000 all day long so £1,200 seems like a great price!

Now in my 3rd year of driving (20 years old)and have my 120d M-sport insured with Endsleigh for £1,440 for the year. This includes a claim of over £2,000 for a one vehicle crash I had last year so I thought that was a great price! Although I did see on their website that they are "student specialists" so I don't know if their great rates are only because I am a student but have a check with Endsleigh OP.

Also, sometimes 3rd party fire and theft can work out more expensive than fully comp due to the insurance company viewing you as more high risk so check out fully comp prices too.

Would definitely stay away from a black box monitoring your driving, recipe for disaster IMO.

thanks, just tried them all but not got any further. Ive been quoted £1116 (3rd party, fire, theft) from Igo4More car insurance? never heard of them tbh. anyone know what they are like?

inc..

European cover (90 days)
stereo equipment (up to £150)
legal protection (up to £50.000)
Free RAC Roadside (worth £44, not breakdown)
Key cover (up to £1500)

and total policy excess £175

seem good deal to me but other opinions?

I know you wouldn't want to but I did, up the excess as high as possible (you can realistically afford) on fully comp.
go to admiral and ask for a 10 month booster - you pay 10 months out of 12 and get a years no claim

TPFT comes up at nearly 4x the price for me compared to a fully comp policy.

Not sure it's justified, but I wouldn't want to use an insurance company I'd never heard of that usues text like '4' instead of 'for' and 'u' instead of 'you'.

Increase your excess as much as possible to decrease your policy then buy excess insurance to pay the excess if the need arises?
Worked out cheaper for someone I know....

Having bought insurance last month for myself (as a 17yo) I can advise putting fully comp on, worked out cheaper in nearly all instances for me.
