They take 25% of the potential fine if you get the ticket nulled for something that you could do yourself. Easy money there.

I imagine the appeals process is different in the States as well which makes it easier to win.

yes but you are paying for the experitse of their lawyers etc who know how to work the loopholes and all the hassle and faff of doing it. Seems fair to me. and if we could get it working here on speed cameras it would mean no points either. I say good luck to em

I'd happily hand over 25% of the ticket to not have to go through the appeals process myself. After all, what's the worst that happens? You get stuck with the ticket and have to pay the full amount, and I would hope if the people who do it day in and day out can't get you off it, then you deserve to have to pay it!

I'm fairly sure taking a picture of your speedo AND the camera flashing as you're driving through would raise new problems above and beyond the initial speeding fine and points.
