Brake were being interviewed on the radio this morning. This time warning of the danger of driving when tired or drowsy. Such astounding advice was given by them about pulling off the road for a break when tired or having a coffee and a power nap. I'd never have thought of this myself.

I would say most responsible drivers know when they are tired and what action to take. There will always be a minority of people who think they know best and have an accident after nodding off, but they won't be the kind of people to listen to Brake either.

I couldn't believe this unoriginal advice was being trotted out as if it was a major new breakthrough!

I think this happens more than people will admit to.

Raising speed limits would help.

The headline is incorrect. It should be:

45% of male drivers admit to falling asleep at the st spouted by Brake.

Well, thank Goodness for Brake's sage advice. I had assumed that it was best to change into my pyjamas, have a cup of Horlicks, rest a pillow against the window, and drive on.

I find when tootling along I feel bored, lack concentration and can fall asleep.

The cure is to drive fast enough to get your adrenaline going - around double the limit ought to do it.

My sentiments too
I went through a phase of driving gently, fuel efficiently etc 55-60 on the Mway etc
kept losing concentration and making silly errors.
Back up to normal driving and I'm fine now.

I remember pulling over for a power nap at the services once - I parked near some Armco. Something disturbed my slumber and as I started awake my first sight was the Armco right in front of the car. For a split second I thought I had fallen asleep and crashed.

Clearly what we need is a fine system for people asleep at the wheel.

Well, yes, it would obviously be better to have a fine system than a rubbish one.

My coat, please...

Why would you drive if you were awake or asleep? It's far too dangerous.

(I've driven tired before. Typically I'm not falling asleep at the wheel but I'm a little grumpy because it's 6:15am and I'm on my way to work. Typically it seems the Brake loonies are either jobless mothers or simply jobless/retired smile

They're mostly bicyclists, enviroloons and all are control freaks and dangerous.
