I didn't decide to look for this but I have seen a car up for £23,500 at the none franchise dealer against a WBAC offer of £12,495 - Before everyone tells me the obvious it's just a bit of fun but it does indicate the popularity of the car in the market ie not very popular in this case.

I think I understand what you are saying, do you mean the difference in what we buy any car offer for the car compared to what a similar/same car is selling for?

If so I put my VXR8 reg in and was offered £10,500, autotrader had same year higher mile cars at £19,995 so think i'll keep her a bit longer smile

WBAC will want certain criteria of cars - euroboxes and diesel saloons up to five years old, good history, no previous damage and with all the little things like two keys and so on. Ie the stuff that Mr and Mrs Average will buy on the used car market, nice safe and appeals to the majority of the population.

They probably don't want your 1998 Impreza WRX, your 1990 Fiesta with tile grout rear arches nor do they want your 911 Turbo... so they'll low bid you to make you go away, simply because those cars do not fit the business model and aren't going to sell easily, for a profit.

They'll also probably pay between CAP average and just under CAP clean. Charge you an admin fee for the privilage, chip you down if there's some dents, tyres are low and you forgot to tell them it has one key. They'll punt on via BCA and it'll end up on a forecourt somewhere closely followed by the school run the following Monday with all the other Golfs.

Yep I know that it's just a bit of fun - I'm comparing a car on sale at a dealer against WBAC and of course they don't want a 5.0 soft roader - it's just a bit of fun

We buy any car is BCA now, we want any car is Manheim owned. Not strictly true what your saying as there is CC trade in BCA which is purely the older and high miles cars but the proper sales have £100k cars in so they literally will buy anything but generally try and nic it
