Alternative Estates?

I'm currently in the process of being all grown up and swapping the Fiat Coupe for something a bit more grown up and while I don't need the space, I have a hankering for an estate. It's a weird thing I have but I just think they look better than their saloon equivalents.
Thing is I'm not a fan of the usually trio of Germans and I like stuff that's a bit different. So far my search has led me to some very nice Alfas, what else is out there?

I would go with a passat estate. Pistonheads wrote something about it yesterday but can't find it. I had an 08 plate highline. Probably the best car I have ever had. Go with the 2.0l Tdi very good engine, pulls well and get very surprising over 50mpg! Avoid 1.9tdi as thirsty and lacks power. Of course there are some R36'S out there!! Mmmmm.
I now have a range rover as needed the space and 4wd to get to and from the house. (And the ground clearance). Otherwise I would have had a 60plate Passat estate.

I've just gone for an accord tourer. My 5th estate car. Had the ford, vag and bmw stuff.
It's an 08 plate in EX spec. So got all the toys. It's not quite as good as the bmw but easily on par with the vag stuff build quality wise.
The bmw kicked like a mule when it came to running costs. This thing is poles apart. It just works and I expect it to do so for some time.

I was looking at 159 at 5 or 6 but there some lowish miler facelift 156s (the 2.4 jtd) for about 2-3 which look good.9-5 Aeros are hard to beat for the ££
The Saab is an interesting one I hadn't thought of and that Alpina is gorgeous! I'm afraid the Passat is a bit boring for me, I'd be pining for the good looks of the Alfa!
Are we related OP? Agree estates looking better than saloons for many models.

The Audi was the most unreliable and worst drive of the lot (from new). Personally I think 156's are getting a little too long in the tooth now, but I loved that car. If fuel cost is not an issue then I'd say Legacy Spec B - handles well, 0-6 in 6.5 like the Fiat, classy-looking, great flat 6 sound, spacious, reliable, about £4k for a good one. If not, then the 159 but I found the 1.9 a little slow off the mark so the larger diesels or V6 for performance but it is a gorgeous car. Tan leather interior is beautiful.

I went for one as its a cracking 'different' alternative to a German car!
Mine has got elec everything, including a heated rear seat, xenon's, stonking Harmon Kardon sound system, had 130k on it when I got it, all for...... £1200!
