I am starting work soon and looking to get a very economical Automatic car to travel to and back from work.

I am going to average around 350miles a week of driving.

The car has to have an auto gear box.

Any suggestions please?

What`s the budget.

A plus point is that nowadays the auto actually outperforms the manual option in terms of fuel efficiency

The car will be used on A roads that will have traffic, some days heavy traffic.

Ideally under 4k in 2-3 years but if I save more on fuel but pay more for the car overs 2-3 years, I guess it will balance out

I can spend 5-6k over 2 years if I was saving a lot on fuel.

The pegeot new 208 apparently claim they do 80mpg on A roads so if I was gaining atleast 60mpg I think it would allow me to maximise costs on the car

Is the Toyota Hybrids or Vauxhall Hybrids any good with price on a lease or around 5-6k 2nd hand?

MPG seems pretty good and seen some 2006-2007 models within budget...

If it says 80 you'll get 55-60 unless you thrash it or head north of 70mph, in which case you'll get 50ish.

The Skoda Rapid 1.6 TDI DSG isn't bad if you just want good, cheap, basic transport.
