Camaro, Challenger or Mustang

I'm going to do that great PH cliche - The American Roadtrip in a big ass V8 muscle car - in March. I'm not that clued up about US Muscle so I'd like to kbnow - of the 3 cars Hertz offer in their Adrenaline Collection - Mustang, Camaro, or Challenger - which would you pick and why?

If it's a V8, the Mustang. It's a pretty iconic car, and they've just given it what's widely-recognised as a cracking engine.

I hired both the Challenger & the Camaro in November - Both were awesome, and if I had to buy one it would be the camaro, but the challenger would be the best car to do a road trip in!

Hired a Camaro, then a Challenger while out in New England during the fall in 2013. No contest - Challenger every time!!!!! Mustang If it's the new Model, maybe, old Model definitely no!

The Challenger is biggest but least sporty but a friend with a Mustang did a trip and loved the Challenger.

Providing they are all V8, I don't think you'll be disappointed by any of them.

I already have a Mustang so myself, I'd proably try the Challenger as it has the most room inside and though I say so myself, looks the best.

I would personally chose the Camaro, but thats just my personal preference.

Same here. Already have a Mustang, so I'd try the Camaro or Challenger.

I've done all 3 as rentals over in the US and they are all fun.

The Camaro feels the most "Hot Rod" and it's almost like it's had a roof chop plus you get the cool HUD instruments.

The Mustang has the nicest interior and engine in 5.0 form.

The Challenger is big, has the most room for people & luggage but looks good.

For a long trip on holiday, I'd probably go for the Challenger.

Camaro or Challenger - like the look a lot better than the Mustang!

(Jealous - trying to convince the OH that a roadtrip would make a good honeymoon, but she's not convinced)

I hired a V6 Mustang soft top in Florida in October. It wasn't bad but would've preferred a V8.

Given the choices you have I'd go for the Challenger.

You may not get the car you think, if they run out on the day you may get a different car in that class e.g. Jap or euro car.

I looked into this last year for a mustang and the best place I was told from LAX was Dollar because they had 90% mustangs in that class.

Also the mustangs are V6s or you will have to book from a higher class if you want a V8.

I thought in the states the Mustang is seen as a very girly car, unless its the GT500...just something to bare in mind. Personally I'd go for the challenger.

I must have picked 20 cars up from major US airports, and I've never seen a lot without several mustangs dotted about

The 'new' mustang won't be around then (I think its coming in November - they like to hype their cars for a while) - so I'd go for one of the other two. I loved the camaro - but if you're going for a couple of weeks, could you rent both (1 week each)?

Hertz guarantee you will get the car you book for all Adrenaline Collection cars (or so they say!)

This is important - the V6s aren't worth wasting your money on and many people make the mistake of assuming they will get the V8. Be sure to confirm it will be the V8.

The mustang handles the best of the 3 and is the lightest. (ignore the nonsense about the live back axle being rubbish)

However my personal choice would be the challenger.

I've rented all three and in addition both Mustang and Camaro soft tops.
Mustang sof top boot access is tight and the Camaro soft top chassis flexed way too much.
My favourite was the Challenger.
I'm a Mustang fan but would go for the Challenger.
Alternatively, why not change half way through.
I don't think you'll be disappointed with any of them.
