With pot holes aplenty developing at this time of year why is it that on motorways some of the worst damage is between lanes corresponding with the dashed lines? Is there something about the paint that makes the surface more prone to breaking up? Stretches between lanes 2 and 3 seem really bad.

There are some real tyre killers out there already with worse still to come.

That's where the joins in the tarmac are when the road is put down. Water will get in and cause damage, more so with frost.

Did you think it was all one bit?

A local dual carriageway has got some massive potholes along the lines, and it looks like when they resurfaced the road they added an inch or so to the top but didn't strip off the white lines completely as you can still see their remnants at the bottom of the pothole, in which case I guess tarmac doesn't stick to paint as well as it sticks to tarmac

Relaxation and whack the throttle open. It'll sort itself out.

There's a big one on the m60 between portwood and the pyramid. Surprised how long it's been there, hit it last week on a test drive - oops!
