What do you think is the cheapest way to get 300+ bhp?

I was thinking a modified car such as a Nissan pulsar gtir, impreza, evo or maybe a classic big engined barge such as a BMW 750 or merc sl500 etc.

What do you think?

Probably a big engined petrol barge or some type. Something like an S-class or a 7-series. I'd imagine you should be able to find something like an S500 for under a grand with a year's MoT.

VAG 1.8t is fairly easy to get to 300bhp, as is a 300zx

300BHP is a bit pointless if the car weighs >2000kg no?

Wouldn't a power:weight ratio cut-off be a better approach?

Sorry to be a loser

This! I had a Celica GT4 & now a Mk1 Focus RS both went on SRR & made similar power just shy of 300 the RS is quicker as its lighter.

It's not just the weight, the 4WD gubbins makes for more transmission losses.

I paid £1450 for a Audi B5 S4 18 months ago. I could have spent a few £hundred on a remap to get it to around 320hp. Sold it 6 months later though.

How can the "cheapest" car depend on the budget? hehe
