I like to spot the non-obvious choices on the sale sites, and see models like;
Hyundai XG
Cadilac STS (northstar engine 300bhp)
Nissan QX 3.0.

Now, these cars for nothing money- is it worth it for a few months, even for the novelty??? Would love to know of peoples experiences with these cars (if there is anyone!)

QX is a Maxima- pretty good cars IMO. Driven loads of variants in the states with the V6- very hardy pieces of kit, usually loaded with kit. I think the 350Z uses a version of the same engine. Very comfortable mile munchers.

I've often thought the Cadillac would be quite a good left-field choice. Accept that it's FWD and will handle terribly, and just enjoy the confort and toys.

But surely cruising around you're not going to be pushing the handling too much...

Exactly, which is why I think they're not a bad choice at all. But I'm sure if you wait a few minutes some people will be along to tell you they're the worst way you can possibly spend £500-£1000.
