Undertaking

I was wondring if anyone else has noticed that undertaking seems to be the done thing now. i put it down to the computer game generation. i have gone to pull over to the left lane a couple of times now only to find that there is someone cruising up my inside, the last one was a young girl in her early 20s, I got a good look at her as she slowly passed my passenger window in her ford KA. you fking tt i mumbled as i beeped my horn, she stuck her arm out of her window and gave me the finger, i swear i could hear her say "fk you old man learn to drive". im only 46 has it come round that fast that i am now that old man that used to hold me up, or do i just need to get a x station and a copy of grand theft auto.

If they can pass you on your left, you are in the wrong lane. Drive on the left, unless you are overtaking. The girl was right. Your caps lock is broken, is this another social experiment / troll fest, like the I'm going to prison thread?

I think it had become more common now. I never used to do it, but there seems to be so many dozy drivers in the middle lane now that I have started doing it.

The way I see it is that if there is enough space for me to do a controlled pass on the left then the other driver should have already been in that gap.

Quite right. I've lost count of the number of people I've come up behind who seem to think that the empty lane on their left is purely for decoration. On one instance I came up behind an Audi A1 doing 65mph in the outside lane - lane to their left was empty. I waited to see if they'd pull up, but no - they continued on their merry way, oblivious to the queue that was building up behind them. Eventually I gave up waiting, crawled past on the left. Cue thirty seconds of headlamp flashing, all the time resolutely refusing to move over.

I might do it all the time, if someone's in the wrong lane then i might happily nip up the inside. Only on two lane sections though

If i can do it in my gutless HGV then people are most definitely in the wrong lane.

Does such a thing exist?

If he could be undertaken then the left hand lane must have been clear and therefore it was safe for the OP to have moved left earlier.

If anyone can pass the 'queue of over takers' on the left, all the overtakers in the queue are in the wrong lane.
