As per the title does anyone know the RFL cost for a 1.6 petrol VW Golf convertable please? Can't seem to find it on the DVLA website. Thanks in advance.

Emissions didn't count until 2001/Y reg or thereabouts, so this is above 1550CC so £225 or something a year.

EDIT: Gov website:

Cars and light goods vehicles registered before 1 March 2001
The rate of vehicle tax is based on engine size for cars and light goods vehicles registered before 1 March 2001.

Private/light goods (TC11)

Engine size (cc) 12 months rate 6 months rate
Not over 1549 £140.00 £77.00
Over 1549 £225.00 £123.75

Wont it be £280 for a year or £154 for 6 months.

Just taxed my 2004 M3, which is also done on engine cc.

EDIT : Didn't realist pre-2001 was different again.

I'm sure 2004 would be carbon dioxide not capacity. My 52 plate A2 is taxed on emissions not capacity.

as DKS said as it's pre 2001 it's simple old fashioned PLG at the 1549cc+ rate ...

After march 2001 it's done on emissions rather than engine size. Between then and March 2006 there is an upper limit, so the m3 mentioned would be in this band.
