Car with presence between £15-20k
Discussion
When you say fun, do you mean warp to the horizon fun? Or best 'ring lap-time fun?
If the former, then surely a V12-powered Merc... CLS65? Actually they're not quite in budget yet, but the 55's and 63's are getting there.
This 55 looks bloody good, rare enough too:

Quattroporte is too long and unwieldy. Want something a bit more focussed. Agree that M/S/AMG cars are probably more common but they seem to provide the right combination of being easier to live with on a day to day basis but can still give you that level of enjoyment/power/presence. Would people say M6 was a good looking car compared to say an SL?

Vague thread, how is this any different to someone going on mumsnet and asking for a car that looks cute.
A Chrysler 300 with a Bently grill or the ubiquitous Range Rover in black with black windows and chrome alloys are surely the cars with the "presence" the OP appears to desire.
It's supposed to be a vague-ish thread to stimulate discussion. The suggestions so far have all been appreciated.A Chrysler 300 with a Bently grill or the ubiquitous Range Rover in black with black windows and chrome alloys are surely the cars with the "presence" the OP appears to desire.

OP wants 'Presence'Your suggestion usually 'presents' itself to block a junction, whilst the Dolt at the helm uses their mobile without hands free, adjusts makeup, abuses other inconvenienced road users & it's Fugly!
My vote would go to the Turbo R.
