Service with no mileage quoted
Discussion
I'm looking at buying a car where the invoice for the 2nd service done at an indie does not quote the mileage. Car has had 3rd service at main dealer, and they've told me missing mileage doesn't affect FSH. I've tried calling garage that performed service, and although they know the car, they're unable to provide the mileage. Is this just a trivial thing, or will it bite me on the arse further down the line? The car is a mazda 2.2d, and i'm worried that mazda would attempt to wriggle out of any warranty claims if SH isn't bullett proof, espcially with dpf issues that can occur. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

It's one thing stumbling into an issue that you don't know about, but the dpf issue is very real - why would anyone who knows about it buy a Mazda 2.2d?
Most of the miles i do are back and forth on the motorway at the w/e, so regen shouldn't be an issue. Most of the horror stories are related to the old 2.0d, but there are a few about 2.2d too - although these tend to be where drivers have not checked oil, or driven car when dashboard is lit up. If it had full mazda DSR i wouldn't be too concerned, but the ratty invoice with no mileage for 2nd service has raised doubts.NPI said:
When I said it was real - my neighbour's 2.2d Sport went. He does a 30 mile each way motorway commute so thought it would be OK. He's a car nut so no way the oil level etc would be a problem - in fact, isn't the issue that it fills the sump with diesel?
Yeah, i don't know technical details, but its something like that the dpf can get blocked which can cause fuel to leak into oil sump - I'm pretty sure it then goes bang. There are plenty of satisfied drivers out there who've had no issues, but is it worth gambling and ending up as one of the unlucky ones....probably notfozluvscars said:

The issue is that DFP regen is performed by the ECU performing a late injection strategy, basically injecting extra fuel well after the main ignition event. Unfortunately some of this additional fuel makes it way past the piston rings and into the sump at every regen, diluting the oil and gradually reducing it's ability to lubricate properly. When you have a significant amount of diesel in the oil, you also increase the risk of a runaway event (where the engine runs on it's own oil), especially on older worn engines.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
