So here is evidence that you can get good economy from a v8 450bhp 2tonne estate 4x4.

Non stop didn't go over 70mph once but where possible I put cruise on at 70mph - a few bottle necks on the M6 too which pulled the average down by 1mpg as per OBC.

28.2mpg average speed which I didn't take a pic of was 57mph and the distance was reset at the start of the trip and that also was at the fuel station.

2 adults 2 sets of luggage. Climate on all the way likewise heated seats all the way.

As for the speed not being above 70mph frankly for the entire trip that was pretty much the flow of traffic a busy traffic day so might have arrived 5 mins sooner but at notable impact to the wallet and for zero extra enjoyment.



Can anyone beat this mpg on long distance with similar power (bhp/tonne I think is 240-250).

Used to be able to get VXR8 to show a consistent 38mpg on the display and average 35mpg along a quiet motorway stretch.
