So as not to clog up the Barge lease thread, I thought i'd start this seperately.

In the instance of change of circumstances etc. how straightforward is it to terminate a lease agreement and typically what type of costs are involved?

I guess its a proportion of the outstanding remaining on contract?

It's one of the downsides of leasing that you usually have to pretty well pay all the remaining payments.

You can insure against early termination for a range of causes - even if you just resign your job.

Depends on the finance company and type of lease agreement. For example, Lex used to charge around 50% of remaining rentals to just hand the vehicle back to the finance company - the major lenders are similar but there's no specific formula or regulation that they have to follow when calculating an early settlement on a lease.

You'll need to ask the leasing company directly as there are too many variables
