I am in the process of deciding whether to replace my car (alfa 156 that has just thrown up a repair bill that is about 70-80% of what the car is worth, with the MOT due in a few months) or to fix it.

Browsing the sub £1k market on autotrader and there are a lot of cars from a company who seem to specialise in selling off repaired Cat C/D cars at around the £600 mark.

Is this a good way to get a reliable run around or another ticket to lots more future bills. Obviously resale value of a cat c/d damaged car at this end of the market in irrelevant.

Cheers,
James

I've just bought a cat C clio 172 exclusive from a salvage yard. Only evident damage is a smashed bumper and blowing exhaust. Came with full service history and I mean FULL plus two cambelt changes etc, so all in all I am happy with it!
