I'm temporarily moving to the UK from New Zealand for a 12-18 month stink midway through this year and was looking at what car I should buy. Long time lurking around the forum and have read the £10k budget weekend car threads. Most come back around to an e46 M3, which again is a car that I do like. However I wanted to know if anyone could think of anything else that could be good. Some of the key things I am looking at are:
  • Will be used at weekend and potential a trip or two to Europe;
  • Not really interested in Japanese cars as I am from New Zealand and have very ready access to them there;
  • Budget around the 10k mark, but could go more as will be selling when I leave so not looking for a car that will incur large amounts of depreciation;
  • Would like to do a few track days and get onto a couple of UK tracks;
  • Fairly robust and easy to maintain;
  • Age is not a problem, something does keep drawing me back to older Porsches in the classified (potentially contradicts previous point!);
  • Only needs two seats, but not against more;
Any ideas would be welcome,
Cheers,

Youre in the UK.
You need a British car.
Caterham/Westfield/Jaguar/Lotus.

No "ifs" no "buts"

A well sorted Boxster S. You'll have some fun on winding roads.

Thanks,

Always liked the idea of a TVR. Reliability is a bit of a concern. Am I right in thinking this?

In regards to the F-150s, after spending time in the USA using a F-550 truck I don't think I'd want to be driving them around UK B roads.
