Is the front wing on a Civic SE the same as a Type R?

Hi,

Unfortunately this evening my girlfriend whacked the neighbours car with her Civic. It's a very tight shared driveway and they had parked their people carrier in a really awkward place. We have to reverse in to the drive and as my girlfriend swing the front of car around it caught the back of the neighbour's car. Very lightly scraped the neighbour's car, but put a big dent in the side of the girlfriend's Civic just caught it in the wrong place!

As the dent is on the wheel arch I think it will be quite difficult to get out and it will definitely need painting as it's creased and some paint has flaked off, so I think it's best to just try and find a salvageable wing somewhere.

I've found a wing from a Civic Type R at Silverlake and I was wondering if it was the same as the wing on the SE. Anyone knew? I'd really appreciate a definitive answer ASAP as I will go and get it tomorrow.

Oops, sorry, I should say it's a 2004 (53 plate) mk 7. It's the 1.6 SE. Also, I'd like to ensure the panels are the same, as I will only be changing on side. I don't want to know if a Type R panel will fit, only to find it's different to the other side!

I read wing as bumper but judging by that guide it would fit on a FN shape. I wouldn't see why it wouldn't fit certainly on the FN shape the only changes were mechanical with different bumpers. I know its a small risk to take but it could keep you occupied for a few hours.

Pretty sure it will. The Sport/Type R kit is pretty much the same as the SE, just with some extra skirty bits on the bumpers.

Didn't sell in the end then ? Seem to remember posting in your thread when you were considering moving it on.

Remember that the facelift wing does not have the side repeaters within it, they are housed in the wing mirror.

Oh right , good point, I think ours is a semi facelift. It has the newer lights, but older side repeaters.

We do still want to sell it, we were going to wait until spring, get Christmas out of the way! Thinking of getting the new shape Fabia VRS actually.

I've found new panels quite cheap, what would it cost to paint a new panel, roughly?

This advice proved invaluable!

Turns out the one Silverlake had was from a 2002 car, BUT the previous owner had facelifted the car to 2004 onwards spec! So it didn't have the side repeater holes. That saved a long wasted journey.

I've bought one from eBay now, £45 delivered, very good condition in black, with side repeater holes. Fantastic. I just hope it doesn't arrive damaged!

Taken a while, but got it fitted in the end. The answer is yes, the Type R wing is exactly the same as the SE wing! You'd never notice I've changed the wing now.
