So today I had a rear end bump that's bent the beam underneath the boot floor of my 106. Although i could just go through insurance and I'm not at fault I'm a new driver that could do without any claim. I'm also sure it'll be a write off as far as insurer's are concerned, the whole thing will be a pain. The other party said he already had 0 NCB, so an at fault claim for him will surely put his insurance up even more. So, I'm wondering if it would be possible to get it repaired and how much it'll cost. Although I'd have to see if he'll pay for the repairs, he did not want to go through insurance at all. Any ideas on what's best to do?

Here are pics of damage, if anyone knows roughly how much it'll cost to put right.

on an old 106 best just get a 2nd hand bumper, then ask your local small body shop to hammer the floor and back panel back into decent shape, fit the 2nd hand bumper, underseal and paint. It might need a plate welded to keep the towing eye secure. Say £200-£350 all in.
Its not worth trying to make it like new, just needs to be of reasonable standard, if you claim its going to be written off and as the value is low no point doing that.

Sounds like a good plan to me. The damage is just isolated that that corner the floor. Just need to find a body shop and hope the other guy is happy to pay for it

Oh, and no whiplash compensation, I'm not that unscrupulous! smile

If he isn't then ring his insurers and instigate a claim, it won't affect you too much but will cost him wink

If you don't know who his insurer is you can find out at askmid.com AFAIK

As above cars worth peanuts, nail it back together cheaply, ask the guy for £2-300 to sod off and move on, put the money to one side to buy a better car in a year or so.

Yep, £300 sounds good to me. If he won't pay then that's what insurance is there for.
