I agree with the sentencing. Community service and 3 year ban hopefully the lads will learn a lesson...

If I got caught doing that I'd consider myself lucky if that was the result. I personally think it's a fair charge but people have been jailed for less.

Young lads in very fast cars...

I was caught speeding going double the limit when I was 19 - total F@cking idiot for doing it (was on a dual carriageway that was reduced to 40 a month earlier but still - total nob)

Not as severe but was almost bound to happen, I was not mature enough to have a fast car at that age. I got 5 points and spent 2 years in an old diesel estate totally crapping myself if even nudged the speed limit - taught me a lesson, hopefully these lads will learn too....

Agreed - a total mixup of their way of lives is what is needed to prevent this happening again - then the media can report it and hopefully others will take note...

Deservedly so, too. Lets face it, most of us are here because we like a fast car and we've all had our moments on the road, but 144mph on a public road is simply taking the mickey.

Anyone posting a car and putting the phrase "selling as I have been banned from driving" in the advert must be stupid. "PLS BUY CAR, I BAD DRIVER".

It's idiots like these who are used to justify the use of mobile speed traps. Getting them off the roads is fair enough as they're unlikely to have any observational or forward planning skills and 144mph on a busy public A road is out of order. The trouble is, in some people's minds, everyone who slips over the limit is tarred with the same brush as drivers like this.

Big deal. 144. So wbat? The Germans do this every day. Some of us oldies on have exceeded this by loads in the days before everyone got brainwashed into thinking it was bad. Some of us may have exceeded this last year. And lived. The shock. The horror. Speed isn't always dangerous, crashing or getting caught is. Actually I now reckon getting caught is more inconvenient.

144MPH on a public road, with a car being driven by (I'd assume at 21 years old) a pretty inexperienced driver. I think their punishment is pretty light really - they were lucky.

Hardly, there are many ways to get banned!

Should have gone to the IOM or the autobahn. Then they could have done it safely...

Few of which are safe or conducive towards painting a good picture about the way the car has been treated or used.

Looked like the focus was holding up the Evo. Focus should have just moved over.
