What does it mean when someone on here gets called a 'Driving God'?

Is it aimed at people who think they are much better at driving than they are? (In which case how does the accuser know the driving ability of the 'God'?)
Is it supposed to describe people who are actually good drivers but deserve ridicule for it?
Is there another description?

Is it simply an indicator that the accuser has read something they don't understand or think is impossible?

Other than knowing it's somehow derogatory I'm confused by what it's supposed to mean. If Walter Röhrl, Lewis Hamilton or Mike Cross posted on here would they automatically get accused of being 'Driving Gods' by the PH masses?

We assume that god would be perfect.

As invariably those who claim not to make mistakes are fibbing they are referred to god, due to their arrogance .

The first thing a good driver does is learn to aknowledge their mistakes and learn from them.

On Pistonheads, all you need to do to achieve Driving God status is to be able to drive a rear wheel drive car in "the real world".

A driving god is one who can disobey the laws of physics.

Those that can drive a slick shod Rwd V8 supercar up a 45 degree ice slope without a hint of wheelspin and getting 60mpg

And, think it's normal to drive as such on a normal road in rush hour.

I can heel toe but drive an FWD car so I'm more like a "driving Jesus" than a "driving God".

It's a sarcastic phrase people like to say when anyone else mentions anything other than absolute basic driving skills.
It is apparently the done thing to out humble each other, to the point where we are proud to be driving little tykes cars everywhere.

I'd say it goes below this. I'd consider moving off from a junction fairly basic but the ability to do so with a 2WD car without pirouetting round and round whilst disappearing in a cloud of your own tyre smoke like a Clarkson on the Top Gear runway is apparently an advanced technique worthy of Driving God sarcasm too.

The lesser spotted PH driving god:

- Always drives everywhere with all driving aids disengaged. Fully.
- Scoffs at anyone who is inept enough to require winter tyres.
- Only drives RWD.
- Only drives petrol cars.
- Has NEVER made common errors such as a late indication or poorly judged overtake. Ever.
- Employs a 'dab of oppo' liberally even when taking granny to the shops.
- Doesn't clean his car, too busy being a driving god for such trivialities.
- Wouldn't be seen dead in any car of French origin but has a healthy appreciation for yank tanks (being petrol and RWD) and of course drives German.
- Hasn't undertaken any formal driver training but is able to pass comment on whether or not Vettel overcooked it into that last corner at Sepang.

etc etc

A little worried at how much of that applies to myself hehe

F1 or WRC driver I would describe as driving gods but I suspect even they would find that a bit embarrassing and would say someone else is better than them.

Genuinely laughed out loud. The last comment being very apt!

Once upon a time it was sarcastically addressed to posters who seemed to believe they were good enough to deserve the term without sarcasm.

These days it gets thrown at anyone who admits to being a moderately competent driver.

- Always drives everywhere with all driving aids disengaged. Fully. Rarely - although I do enjoy a car which doesn't have any to switch off
- Scoffs at anyone who is inept enough to require winter tires. X - I have winter tyres this year
- Only drives RWD. I wanted to tick this, but we do own an AWD car. It's the wife's car though
- Only drives petrol cars. Ding
- Has NEVER made common errors such as a late indication or poorly judged overtake. Ever. Almost. Not in the last decade
- Employs a 'dab of oppo' liberally even when taking granny to the shops. Only when it's snowing
- Doesn't clean his car, too busy being a driving god for such trivialities. X - My cars are often dirty, but I do like them clean
- Wouldn't be seen dead in any car of French origin but has a healthy appreciation for yank tanks (being petrol and RWD) and of course drives German. Wouldn't be seen dead in French, indifferent to American and have never been tempted away from my money by German
- Hasn't undertaken any formal driver training but is able to pass comment on whether or not Vettel overcooked it into that last corner at Sepang. Ding

Oh well, I'm only a wannabe Driving God, which basically makes me a cock. I'm sure I'll get over it.
