My mother is after the above on a nearly new or pre reg. Havent driven either, although I did drive a 1.25 few years ago but unsure if its the same engine, this was very flat and drank fuel.
Anyone had any experience, the 1.0 ecoboost seems a good £2k extra than the 1.25 models. She is 72 and uses it as a shopping car so hardly demanding.

1.25 shouldn't be flat & they don't drink much. At least the '08 we used to have didn't until some retard (not me, a professional retard) mistimed the cams replacing a head gasket.

Used to have a 1.25 Fiesta. I thought it was a decent little engine (amongst it's peers) and surprisingly good on fuel even at 18 when your throttle control is digital.

Though fuel was cheaper and maybe I didn't notice. I don't remember a lot of those years...

For most people i'd suggest the 1.0 Ecoboost, but since it's just to be used as a shopping car, save the £2K and go for the cheaper version. She'll never make the fuel savings to make the Ecoboost worthwhile.

The 1.25 is perfectly acceptable and certainly not thirsty. The 1.0 will be a total false economy given the usage.

My Mum and my OH have 1.25s and they're perfectly adequate, Mum uses hers mainly as a town car and the OH uses hers for a 30 mile round trip commute on a bust dual carriageway. I even took the OHes on a 1500 mile round trip to France last summer and it coped just fine with the journey. Mid 40s fuel economy is easy to achieve and anyone who says its underpowered probably needs to understand that driving style needs to change with the car.

I agree. 1.0l while very good makes no sense in this case.

I can sell you one if you like too! PM me, always a good deal for PHers

Just got my mother in law a 1.25 fiesta on Ford options with my priviledge discount. Engines perfect for what it's going to be used for, going shopping and thats about it! £87 a month on ford options, tempted to get one myself eek

I do wish someone in my family had Privilege, some of those discounts are awesome!
