I have just signed up to this, and, it sounds like a good deal to me?

Parts & garage cover
Helps cover the cost of parts and garage labour if you break down. Make up to 5 claims a year (each up to £500 with a £35 excess) and cover up to 4 cars. Claims can be made from day 15 of your roadside assistance cover, so any faults that occur before then are excluded

For my Porsche, TVR, Cortina and my Harley, it will cost me just over £200 a year!

I own a garage and a have to say I rate this warranty, I have only had one case where they rejected and claim and that was a clutch issue, every other one was authorised on the phone and paid up in good time.

Thumbs up from me.

Get it free with my bank account. So far brilliant cover.

Passat for free off this site, under 20 minutes response.

Focus random battery failure, less than 15 minutes, fixed. ( well nearer an hour as i could not believe that was the fault).

MG TF160 stupid, locked keys in boot, again under 30 minutes, overall worth every penny.

As all on PH are awesomely skilled mechs not worth it i'm sure... For us normally skilled folk join!

Sorry, I should have said, this doesn't cover usual wear and tear items. The clutch is covered, but not the friction side of it.

What about a turbo on a 150k Skoda Octavia vRS? The AA man assured me it would be on a chance encounter a few months ago, but I have always been left wondering if he was correct.

... or stick £200 a year in a jar on the mantle-piece.

  • You can only claim £500
  • With a £35 excess payable by you on every claim
  • You have to stick to the manufacturer's service schedule
  • You can't DIY the servicing
  • You have to "break down" first before you can claim
  • How many breakdowns do you really have each year??
I'd file it with domestic appliance insurance - in the bin.

I can see your point, but, if you only had one vehicle it would be about £50, I think it's a bit of a no-brainer.

I have it on all three cars & have had it for 2 years. First year claimed the front callipers & hoses on the Jeep so around £380, last year got the water pump paid for on the Boxster which was £465 (bill was a hair over £500) so less the £35 excess. Both were paid in around 7 days with no question, quick word letter & a photocopy of the receipt.
I paid £298 last August (£275 the previous year) for all the bells & whistles cover for wife & myself plus the Breakdown Repair Cover coverage for the 3 cars, 2 x 2000 & the Mazda is an 88. Normal price for BRC for members is around £79 per car.
So I am well ahead! bounce
I have also called the AA out twice in the past 12 months, once when the fanbelt shredded on the MX5 & when the water pump croaked on the Boxster just on the slip road to the Chunnel as we went on holiday for a tour of Europe curse

Completely depends on the car, it's probably not necessary on 90% of cars out there. Luckily they probably subsidise people like me that run unreliable expensive to fix cars. smile
