Just wondering on a regular car e.g a Honda Jazz, average miles but approaching 7 years old and mechanically sound. Only issue is that over the years, it's a a few scratches on 3/4 panels, not deep scratches but just your average wear and tear.

Should I either sell privately or px through a dealer, how much would the buyer knock off the valuation?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers for your somewhat limited input rolleyes

I've already given a description of a car that I'm thinking of selling. There's some visible damage. Just would like to know if the trade would
give the spiel like the car needing a respray therefore they would knock at least a couple of £k off the valuation. If that's what I should come
to expect, I'd rather just keep the car as a runabout and run it into the ground.

Get someone to machine-polish the car before selling, regardless of who you sell it to, then the question doesn't arise.

He's back.

String like I agree, however if I were buying a car like this, and it was scratched to within an inch of its life, I would ask how much care and attention was paid to servicing and routine care, So in answer I'd be looking from the perspective of paint correction at the very least if I wanted to sell and maximise the return, otherwise lube up....
If it was a 4k car, trade in 1.5k would be my bid, if I were buying...and it was scratched....

Depends on the value. If it''s a basic spec and is worth around £1500 or less and you trade it in for a £15000 car at a main dealer I imagine it will go straight to auction/trade as they will make money on the car that they are selling you and possibly some more if you take their finance offer.

If trading it in at a smaller dealer they may wish to spruce it up and sell it on and may offer you less.

Thanks guys, I will probably look into a quick fix solution getting a detailer to polish some of the surface scratches when I do come to sell.
