Demo cars and owners

If someone buys an ex demo BMW after BMW have had it 6 months from registration, would the new owner be classed as the 1st or 2nd owner?

2nd owner I guess as it will have been registered to BMW.

2nd, the dealer or bmw would be recorded as the first.

In the trade we normally call it demo + 1.

You'd be the second owner. My E36 was an ex demo - the dealership was the first owner. I've owned it from three months old - 15 years since I bought it on 30 July!
