Anyone got any experience of running a Prius well past 100k miles?
Anyone had battery problems with an older hybrid?

Taxi drivers use them all the time - that tells you everything you need to know really - apparently they are super reliable up to starship mileage

No bother

Most of the 2nd-hand ones I can see are 100-150k miles, none of which report battery problems. There's one on AT at 246k miles sold needing a battery replacement, presumably been a cab as it was 2005.

AFAIK Toyota have an 8 year warranty on the Hybrid bit of the car, with 5 years / 100,000 on the rest.

IMHO I can't see them offering that if they weren't reasonably confident in the system smile

NB I am not anti-hybrid, Toyota or Prius.

A little task

Find all the companies offering a battery replacement service for the hugely unreliable prius main traction battery

Now do a similar task

Find all the companies offering a turbo replacement service for the completely reliable VAG turbo diesel
Find all the companies offering a DPF replacement service for the completely reliable VAG turbo diesel

Draw you own conclusions from your results

I've been with Toyota for almost 10 years now and have yet to see a hybrid needing a new battery.

I'm sure it does happen, but it's rare.
