I've finally decided to get myself another car for the summer, if we get one that is!
The budget is not great, but so far I've decided to get either a mk1 mx5, mk2 mr2 t-bar, e36 cabrio or an e30 coupe 318is/325i, I'd love to get a boxster or s2000, but they are over my budget as already running 2 modern cars in the household!

Any input or alternatives?
My main necessities are RWD, manual and either coupe/convertible, must be 1999 or older to get classic insurance here in Ireland, basically something I would look forward to taking out of the garage on a nice sunny day.....

I think the only car that you haven't listed, that meets all criteria, is an MGF.

You may have dismissed them already. I had one and loved it, but reliability is not a strong point.

What about something like a 968 Sport or a 944 Turbo? There has been the odd one turning up for sale over here, although I reckon they could be pricey to VRT if you had to bring one in

Early SLK but look out for rust.
