The 300c is my opt out company car I was planning to keep it till it fell apart.
I love it it has all the toys and it's great to drive all over the country.

But I have a dog now and I dont like letting the muddy dingo dongo in it and and get 29 mpg typically, isn't great plus tax and insureance are high.

The 300c is a saloon, obvious choice is the 300c tourer. But because of above I'm thinking the wise choice is something else. Especially as it's a work car.

Budget whatever my 59 plate 300c is worth plus 5k. No quotes yet for part ex,

So that should get me unless I'm being very optimistic in something like a 9/10 plate honda crv or nissan xtrail but I think I'd rather get an estate.

10 plate 1.6 diesel estate 508s are going for around 9k but I'm thinking I would be bored stless in one of those and going from 220 bhp to 115 would probably have me needling Prozac or something. But running costs would be much much better.

So help me out I know nothing of estates or mini 4x4 type cars any suggestions welcome.

Fun to drive relatively cheap to run ( 25k miles a year fir work anothe 3 or 4 private) looks good so I won't get depressed walking up to it.

What's out there.

vrs estate right ill take a look.

mondeo would be great ( yours looks fabulous)but ive owned 3 fords and every single time ive said never again. the last mondeo ST was made of chocolate and the dealers are crap.(main issue)
shame becuase it is perfect. ive probably just been very unlucky with fords but i just cant face it again.(probably)

hmm 3ltre french machine ok ill add them to the list to inspect

edit oh is there some way i can segregate the rear space i.e all work gear on left and room for dog on right so i dont have to empty the thing every time i need to take mutley in the car?

Most estates have a dog cage option (if not ebay special) where you can split the boot in two as you describe

Go on ebay and search "ex police dog unit" in the cars section. Already segregated and set up for work and mutts.

legacy forgot about those is the 3.0 r a diesel? i imagine they are quite expensive too.

just remembered a XC70 but imagine they are expensive.

i don't want to spend a lot for a car that is just for work and lose loads in depreciation because of the mileage i do,

Depreciation has already happened.

Your difficulty will be in finding one - owners hang onto them.

The only thing about the VRS is that unless you get the brand new one, youre going to have to drive around knowing youve got one of the ugliest front ends on a car of the last 5 years.

Only said Volvo owing the mileage, dog and comfort for the best part of 30k a year. D5 is about 205bhp as well as being economical.

Something like this:

or slightly less power:

If you want an 4x4 something like the XC70/XC60 could be a worthwhile look?

That's a petrol - you need the Diesel one 170Bhp and a mountain of torque.. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/s...

Oh and 155G of c02 and 47.9 MPG....
