been looking for a while at what car to buy, budget is £10000 but i can go higher it just means saving for the right car, basicly im looking for a car that i can go away in one weekend that is comfy yet on the next weekend do a track day in it, somthing that is a good blend of the two , fule is not an issue to a point and i want omthing newer then an 04 plate (10 years old) idealy less then 50k miles. cars iv looked at are
mk5 golf gti
mk5 golf gti ed30
mk5 golf r32
fn2 type r
astra vxr
corsa vxr
leon cupra

is there any other alternatives to them? any advice is appreciated

IMHO track days are more fun in RWD cars. ~200bhp/tonne is a very nice compromise.
I'd reconsider your list completely.

Megane R26. Similar to all of them on your list but it's got an LSD.

For a hot hatch I`d have a focus ST over any cars in that list having driven them all.

Would also agree with the previous poster that it seems mad to limit yourself to hot hatches.

It doesn't need to be a M3, which I agree would be an expensive track day.

If you can live with 2 seats

Lotus Elise
VX220
Porsche Boxster
Honda S2000

Evo IX
Impreza
M3
DC5
350z
Jag S-type R

Plenty of other cars about if you dont need 4 seats too.

The lighter cars the previous poster has mentioned would be cheaper on the track day consumables.

ideal world would be to have back seats even tho they would only be used once in a blue moon, i like the idea of an evo i had not thought of that

Drive an evo with excess of 300bhp. A friend had an fq360, they are absolutely awesome cars but need regular servicing. The servicing is no big deal is its mainly just an oil change more frequently than most cars.

If flexible on age; Cerbera - might help if you could go a bit more on the budget though...

bo nielsen tracks a vxr and seems to get on ok, originally road going (now track dedicated). I don't think some would like his views on evos etc for track cars !

Worth having a root about for his videos etc.

Do you need back doors?

If fuel isn't an issue, and you want something mechanically simple if you're scared of German bork... a Monaro?

perhaps i should be more specific the cars main use would be every day driving , how ever i want something with a decent on road pace point to point that i could also hold up well to a track day, id rather have at least four seats how ever 5 doors is not an issue although i want to be able to do longer trips and be able to get out ( previous shattered l2 in my spine causes trouble on long trips) as for budget id like to stay as close to 10 grand as possible but would go 2-3k over for the right car, as said befor running cost are not an issue so long as its not ridiculous. thanks for the help so far guys
