VW Passat CC 3.6 GT

Looking at getting a VW Passat CC 3.6 with DSG for my next car. Currently have a Mini Cooper Clubman S which isn't going to be big enough for kids and all there gear.

So what are the Passat CC's like. They look great but what are they like to drive and live with. Is the DSG the box to go for etc. I'm looking at the 3.6 as with nearly 300bhp could keep me happy.

I would think you wouldn't have many to choose from, can't have been a popular choice with the 3.6.

They are obviously rare, but when it comes to the time I'm willing to wait for one to come along.

guessing its the same as the R36

I think it was also used in the Passat R36.

To be honest, I hate them. Passats are boring non entities and and I wouldn't pour that much petrol into one. If you're happy with such eye watering running costs then a CLS would be much better on every level.

They make more sense as a second hand estate for £13k. I'd def consider one.

Had a lift in a Passat CC in France last year, not a 3.6, just a 2.0TDI with DSG and decent spec. I was really impressed, thought it was a great car!

Only 'problem' is that most people's number one concern these days seems to be image so a lowly VW badge just isn't going to cut it.

surely that is one of the best wolf in sheeps clothing contenders, having heard one of these engines being opened up i would not be expecting to see that fairly frumpy looking Skoda!

It's a mid range car in a mid range brand - absolutely nothing to get excited about.

The Passat CC is supposed to be a nice car to spend time in.

But these bigger engined VW's always depreciate like hell, too (look at stuff like the old V6 Syncro, and the Passat W8)... so it'll cost a lot to run (fuel, insurance, tax) and will most likely lose a tonne of money in depreciation too. Have to agree with other comments that there's probably equally fun cars out there which will not end up costing you so much money.

But that said, if it's the car that you want, then go for it!

Ignore badge snobs. I think they're a great looking everyday car and i had no idea they came with such a big engine.

They certainly look a damn site better than BMW's & Merc's of the equivalent age. without a 'sport's exhaust i think they'd be superb Q-car (at least in a straight line) with a 'sports' exhaust they'd probably offer enough enjoyment on our ste moron infested roads safely anyway. Can't speak from experience but i can't imagine the interior being horrible and i'd imagine it will have enough space for comfortably fitting at least four adults. They do look long though.

I'd consider it alongside an Alfa 159 2.4JTDM.

I like the look of the car and they sound great. MPG isn't too much of a big deal.

I bought a 3.6 Passat CC and they are great cars for the following reasons:

1. Great Q car, 99% of people assume its a diesel
2. 300bhp, 4wd, dsg, 0-60 in 5.6seconds. I had an rs4 previously and it is only a bit slower thanks to the way the dsg changes gears so quickly.
3. Fantastic equipment levels, its got everything you could want; heated seats, mirror, front+rear screens. Auto dimming mirrors, electric seats, satnav, Adaptive chassis, etc etc
4. I get over 30mpg on the motorway, which for a 300bhp car is great going. I got 19mpg in the rs4!
5. low servicing costs compared with AMG Mercs, BMWs M and Audi RS/S, e.g. major service inc plugs from VW is £299

A cls500 does have most of the above, except its rear wheel drive and will cost an extra £10K, plus it will have higher servicing costs.

Only problem; You do know there was only 100 Passat cc 3.6s ever sold in the UK???
