Years ago I remember seeing a programme on TV about Rolls Royce and how they had a machine which tested the durability of the carpets! Also the demister had to clear the windscreen within a set time in most extreme conditions. It was fascinating to see the lengths that they went to. According to the airport limo drivers that used to ferry execs from my company to Heathrow the original Lexus LS400s had a good reputation.

No, shoddy fit and finish with a veneer of 'class' (if you can call it that) is their calling card these days. Lexus and Honda products are always impeccably finished, but then the Japanese are the world's finest craftsmen so that is to be expected, I suppose.
