CF tub and body crash questions.

With Alfa launching the 4c with a cf tub and panels and possible other manufactures may follow at a reasonable cost level how repairable are they in a shunt.

With steel you pull it back Into position or cut and weld. Not quite so simple with composites especially when structural. Look how many vx220s have been written off for a minor scratch.

Anyone clued up on this.just out of interest really.

Most CF cars, and the 4C included have a crash structure often of aluminium that is sacrificial in a crash. The tubs are designed to withstand some pretty severe front and rear impact load-cases. Not so sure side impacts would survive too well, but the same is true of steel and aluminium structures particularly if they have been wrapped around a pole!
