Finally, some sun on a Sunday

Dry roads, lovely cold air, blue skies and I've just come back from my first pointless drive of the year. Got totally lost with no signal somewhere in rural warwickshire but that only added to the fun.

Anyone else just been out to burn some petrol and smile a lot? Any highlights?

I went out to burn some petrol, a guy driving a Porsche and I just about blew the doors off someone doing 35 on an NSL road, bought some more petrol and then went the long way home. Very good indeed.

Had a good blast out this morning, a bit of a trade off between wait for the roads to dry or go out while they are empty and a bit greasy. Went with the first option, had fun. Plenty of pops from the exhaust in the cold air.

Just finished cleaning it too now warming my cold paws on a mug of coffee.

Just got in from a quick ride on the Blackbird. Not turned a wheel or even been fired up since early December yet it still started first time and rode perfectly. Roll on spring.

Ironically, I got up early for the sake of a drive out for the first time in a long time this morning. Was a lovely morning.

I took today as an opportunity to remove my front ARB

car handles soooo much better now. the epic understeer is gone and its now neutral to oversteery... perfect

Nothing beats getting each corner linked smoothly together (not necessarily fast) with well matched down changes and some lovely induction noise!

I went out on the GSXR this morning, didn't go particularly far but it was good fun to be out on dry roads, with sun that you can feel through the leathers, which is mighty rare at this time of year. It was good to be able to corner with a bit more confidence and pace, trusting the bike to lean more than I can when it's wet or just above freezing like it has been every other time I've been out. It always awakens the senses to use full throttle up to the redline in the first few gears, it's remarkably effective at making the cars in the mirrors turn into small specks.

Got home, gave it a wash and put it back in the garage. I can't wait to go out riding in conditions where cold isn't a limiting factor. It might have been sunny but it's still bloody cold out there if you're on the outside rather than sitting in a box.

Just back from a week on holiday, so took my 328i out for a short run. Nice to hear her back at the redline again!

All I read about while I was away was atrocious weather back here, 100mph gales, rain, sleet, all that crap.. I have no idea what you were complaining about
