Driving On Bald Tyres

I was out at Worden Park in Leyland this morning with some friends, and when I returned to my car I noticed this on a Zafira that had parked directly behind me:



I was pretty surprised that someone would let their tyre get into that condition and either not notice or just not care, surely that must have driven very badly in the recent weather?

Surely that must have been an advisory on the last MOT? To wear a tyre down to this level must take some doing! Unless the driver is doing a lot of track days

Perhaps he forgot to change his slicks back to road tyres when the TD finished?

Most drivers are oblivious to their surroundings, state of their car, or indeed it's abilities to drive or handle like it should.

If they passed the last MOT at the end of February last year, they just have no inclination to consider their car until the next test - advisories or not.

I don't normally condone vandalism, but slashing the wall would have been a good thing in the interests of forcing them to get new tyres. Cheaper than a fine and points too.

A woman who used to live on my road had her tyres worn through to the casing. Drove it like that for ages.

I was tempted to alert the police to it.

She also got her car clamped for no tax and then renewed about a month late the following year as well.

Her car resembled a skip!

The Zafira is the ultimate car for people who've given up on life - apart from emasculated dads in Zafira VXRs (), so why would you care about your safety, or the safety of others, enough to buy new tyres if you had one? Drive until they burst!

That's weird I noticed a Zafira with almost as bad tyres today. Probably has a princess on board or stick family sticker on the back, ignorance of some people is frightening sometimes.

Unfortunately I'm not surprised.

Most people couldn't care less about the condition of their car (yet in my experience people like this are the first to get upset at the thought of someone breaking the speed limit in a well maintained, modern car).

Stick a note on the windscreen telling him (her?) the tyres are not legal.

I did this on an XC90 and a week later I saw the same car in the same place sporting 4 new tyres.
