Help - What Car?

Hi All,

Been a while since I posted on here, busy old lifestyle at the minute but...

My company has decided to stop supplying company cars and pay us an allowance instead so the 320d has to be returned!
So I need an economical diesel car...

At the moment until I save up to buy something a bit fancy I need to keep it around the £3.5/£4k mark. Ideally I want to get the mileage under 100k to start with and it will spend most of its time on the motorway.

I guess I'd be looking at a pug hdi for that money but wondering if I have missed something.

BMW E39 530d, get the best you can, which for your budget should be easy and find a specialist you trust nearby.

It will be a much nicer place to be, raise a smile and a good one still looks the business now. Long run possibly more hassle free than the later E60 too.

E39 530d Sport Manual, or VW Bora TDI PD130 Highline, depending on how much you value handling and dynamics. They're both well specced from standard, leather etc and the PD130 is bomb proof

An SE spec E39 with cloth seats and Steptronic is nicer than a 407 HDi!

Ford mondeo ST TDCI?

I loved my MK3 Mondy

ST could be an option. BMW would have to be older with high miles.

If you want budget go for a Mondeo or Octavia, both comfortable and economical with a decent amount of space inside.

Think I might look at the Mondeo 2.2 TDCI 155.
If I can find an ST at the right price I'll go for one of those but I also like the spec of the GHIA X.
