Turbo Charged And Super Charged Egines?
Discussion
I haven't watched the supplied YouTube link cos I'm at work, but in a nutshell the supercharger fills in the low rpm boost while the turbo takes over once it's spinning at higher rpm.
Interestingly, this is a little like what Maclaren are doing with their P1 - electric motors replace the supercharger. It's called 'torque infill'

With the ever increasing number of hybrids on the market, I suspect that will basically become the replacement for twin-charging. I have the 180bhp 1.4 in Fabia VRS, fascinating to see the tech in the engine, but further reinforces my hesitation to keep it out of warranty!!
It's a cracking little engine, and the switch from super to turbo is seamless. Just a shame about the oil burning problems many owners are experiencing.

New ones don't suffer drom this anymore. It's a cracking little engine, and the switch from super to turbo is seamless. Just a shame about the oil burning problems many owners are experiencing.
Not all tsi engines are twin charged only the 1.4tsi in the polo gti etc with 180bhp the 122 is just turbo as is the 1.2
