Roundabouts

Had to deal with two roundabouts in particular today. One underneath M25 to A12, and one above the M11 next door to Stanstead

Both have multiple lanes and in particular two lanes for one direction. i.e. Lane 1 to go A12 South. Lane 2 & 3 to go A12 North and Lane 4 to go to a local road.

Lanes 2 & 3 move on to the roundabout, and as Lane 1 has now joined the slip road, become Lane 1 & 2. Sounds more complicated than it is - the road posting is fairly clear (to me anyway).

So why on these junctions have I been pushed aside by people who have effectively changed lane on the roundabout. Toot in protest and they look completely blank. It really irritates me. Are are driving standards so low that people cannot cope with a non-standard junction?

Theres a couple of roundabouts near me where i feel i have to use the wrong lane at times to "fit in" and avoid someone forcing me up a kerb.

just turn the TC off in the BMW and use 3 lanes at once.. f**k em!

Had the same sort of thing happen to me, did the toot thing and as the car had crossed two lanes
was on my right, only thing stopping me giving it the finger was the two female police officers blank looks.
New pair of undies for me lol.

The one I find confuses people is where two lanes merge into the a two-lane section of road, usually one-way - there's a few where I am.

Instead of carrying on and merging if they need to cross into the other lane, there are a large number of drivers who treat the point where the roads merge as a junction and stop dead..

I did try and beat the Fabia on the 2nd roundabout off the lights. It was a sporty one and left me for dead. I tried to pretend that I had not tried!

you don't go sideways to be fast.. you do it because people don't enter the roundabout in front of you because they think you're having a crash..

they also slow down behind you... because they think you're having a crash.

Try living in Cumbria. Roundabouts are regarded as witchcraft, so expect complete randomness as drivers are confused, scared and trying to ward off evil spirits all at the same time.

On two occasions in recent years I've met cars coming the other way round a roundabout!

Mind you, I've also met a car coming the other way down a motorway sliproad....

I sense a pattern here. We drive on the left in this country, the LEFT!
