Dash cam recommendations

Looking for a medium quality dash cam. Want to record my driving night and day.
Other reason I thought it might be helpful is problem neighbour racing around wheel spinning in cars that half the time appear untaxed and uninsured. Police have taken report from 3 sets of neighbours but say to take further action they want videos of him doing it,
Any advice I park my car in road facing down the road would a motion activated one work?
