Which car for our holiday ?

So having enjoyed driving down to Spain every year with my Wife the last few years in my Tuscan, this year we're taking our daughter and a friend.
Decision now is to use my daily work car or my Wifes car.
Space is important for comfort but I want to consider other aspects.
My car is an MB CLS 320I, does about 42mpg, plenty of rear seat space, large boot, great ride, plenty of power, silver paintwork so reflects sun heat to a degree.
Disadvantage is it has black leather seats which will get a bit hot down in Spain.
My Wifes car is an 4 door diesel Evoque Prestige Lux, ca. 45mpg, great ride, reasonable power, Ivory leather seats so better in the sun and has a panoramic glass roof.
Disadvantages are reduced space and boot and its black so will cook in the sun.
My Wife keeps hinting on hers but I'm leaning towards mine because I think the power and space are the most important details.
My daughter and her friend are in a Netball team and both around 5'11". 3000 miles is a long way to be sat in the back with long legs and little room.

if the girls wont fly then
take the car with the most power sockets in the back cos all they will do is Ipad/ipod and phones all the way and will need to charge up several times
as for the black leather, should not be an issue, by Jag is dark blue and black leather and in spain it was fine, just get a couple of sun shades front and rear

Never, ever bothered with sun shades but maybe I'll do that.

I've conceded that the drive with the girls will be a bit of an adventure for them so that's off the list now.

Make all the points about having to sit for the whole journey, limited eating, no toilet breaks, travel sickness, very little luggage, only one pair of shoes......
C'mon you can turn this around.
No real need for anything special. Its a journey i do very regularly from Calais to Malaga and now over 40 times, sometimes in a Transit and some using one of my hire cars which are mainly all Puntos. Done in one hit, no overnight stops, around 18 hours. Some of my cars dont even have air con and living on the CDS for six months of the year youre actually better off without it. Much better to get climatised to the heat with just an open window,going from a fridge climate straight into 35 degrees of heat does you no good at all. Cloth seats/leather, all much the same, both have their pros and cons. As for engine power, anything that can comfortably cruise at around 130kph will do the job just fine and that includes my lowly 85hp Transit, even with double/treble the power you'll get there no quicker. Either of your two cars are perfectly fit for the job..

It doesn't matter that the CLS is the more appropriate car. Your wife is right. Always. If you take the CLS is will be 3000 miles of silence.
