Here's a 1960 Alfa Giulietta Spider after an "ugly divorce". I've no idea which half of the marriage did the damage but I think we can all guess. She knew how to hit him where it hurt.

That car looks fundamentally very good. This sort of damage should be punishable in some sort of "crimes against heritage" legislation.
It could be a great example again, but obviously will need a lot of work. All bodywork and trim though. The floorpan and mechanicals are presumably all intact and the suspension appears almost new.
Regardless what happened, I struggle to respect anyone who vents their frustrations by just wrecking things.

I take your point about being fundamentally sound. You could panel beat most of the dents out but inevitably you'd end up with a body that's got lots of small bits of filler in it. I don't think it would ever be a great example again.
It would be a lot of proper restoration rather than a quick bish-bash-bosh and a respray. It would be a better starting point for a strip down, a shed-load of bodywork and a rebuild than a typical barn-find though which will also also need topsides body panel replacement or panel beating due to dings but mainly rust, trim due to general degredation of rubbers and chrome with age, a rotten floor pan and mechanicals which are all knackered too.With this one, you're "only" looking at extensive topsides body restoration work. The rolling chassis, as it were, should be sound though, unlike most restoration prospects.

Yeah someone linked to a thread on an alfa forum posted by the owner - ex wife and her lover did the damageyears ago I went to have a look at a riley elf a guy was selling, unfortunately his soon to be ex-wife had other ideas and had let her self into the garage and set about it with a hammer.
it was utterly destroyed, she had even opened the bonnet (before she attacked that) and hammered the metal rocker cover as flat as she could, the carb was smashed off as well.
the body work was so destroyed it was difficult to even see what car it was, she must have spent hours beating the poor thing to its death

You would hope that once they are seperated it would be no longer classed as a domestic, but if its a first offence the likelyhood of a custodial is minimal. And the chance of getting any financial compensation is unlikely, what is more likey is that the scrap value of the car (assuming it is totalled) would be 50:50 in the divorce.Seeing things like this makes me never want to even consider marriage.
