How much water can one car hold?!
Discussion
Okay, so I have a Land Rover Discovery 2 with the ubiquitous leaking sunroof. I found a way to cover it and now have started the process of drying it out.
This has taken shape in the way of a loaned dehumidifier that is now on its third day. So far I have removed 1.4ltrs of water from it and after realising the passenger footwell was still damp I reckon I'll get a good bit today as well. I knew it was damp but this has been quite remarkable, it is thankfully much much drier than it was but there is still some way to go. Anyone else experienced anything like this before?

I know that you can get over a pint of milk soaked in to a passenger seat of an Astra, so 1.4 litres from an entire car is nothing.
I've got a couple of litres sloshing around in the boot of my 3-series. I really ought to look for the leak, but a drain holes seems to be the simplest solution.

On Sunday the wife noticed she had wet feet.
The roof drains in the MR2 had blocked with pine needles.
The rear shelf was 2 inches deep under the tonneau, the rear storage bins were full to the doors, and carpets sodden.
Unblocked the grains and a few pints came out, got another cuople out of the bins, and a wet'n'dry vac took another pint or so from the carpets.
Now the electric aerial is playing up.
Oddly enough the maser is bone dry inside

This is absolutely brilliant for the money: http://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb350vac-1300w-16...
In my soft top with the rain we've had recently I pulled around 2 litres from the carpets with it, then put the hard top on and silicone'd the crap out of it

Cheers guys, makes me feel a bit better (especially that it's not milk
) I did wonder how long it would be till someone posted Top Gear.

Crikey, that's cheap, reckon it might be a wise investment even though once I get rid of the disco all the cars will be dry, you never know what's gonna happen. In my soft top with the rain we've had recently I pulled around 2 litres from the carpets with it, then put the hard top on and silicone'd the crap out of it

B&Q sell an almost identical one for about £3 less - every little helps and all that In my soft top with the rain we've had recently I pulled around 2 litres from the carpets with it, then put the hard top on and silicone'd the crap out of it
I have the B&Q one and it's pretty decent - gets plenty of abuse cleaning out old cars.ferrariF50lover said:
I had a magnum of Champagne explode in the boot of my car not so long ago, and there were no pools of standing fizz to speak of, so 1.4 litres in a whole car without puddles is probably a long way from the limit. Have you considered buying a new car?
Simon.
What a waste
Simon.

Luckily, new car is on order and will arrive in 27 days (Not that I'm counting
) I just didn't want to be tooling around in an excessively damp car for 4wks, plus handing a sodden car in as trade in to a garage I'll be going to for the next few years is probably not a good start to a working relationship. ferrariF50lover said:

A Magnum is 1.5 litres. Just saying
Simon.

Tis a bloody waste though!

I use the slightly bigger version of that for work, its great VFM. I pressure washed the carpets in my van, then dried them out with the wet vac, they came up like brand new.
