My insurance is up for renewal with Admiral, price £435 , way too much , so rang them up and got it down to £340 , but |I had a quote off 1st central insurance for £251 , so went to ring them up and take it out , however when going through the details the bloke said it's for a golf gt tdi 130 , I said "no it's a 150 not a 130, but the reg is the right one" , so now they can no longer offer me insurance as they won't insure me on a 150 , even though it's them that has it wrong on their system ?
Tesco have quoted £277 , but not sure what they are like ?

Tesco, Direct line, Privilege and Churchill are all part of UK Insurance Ltd so should be pretty similar.

So they gave you a price, but before going ahead they went thru all the info to make sure it was spot on, they realised your car was a more powerful model than they thought so they politely declined to cover you!

Absolutely disgraceful....hanging's too good for them! rolleyes

Well just bought a Tesco policy - £274 and 500 clubcard points , so pretty good overall! just hope it does have the driving other cars box ticked as that does come in quite handy sometimes! , but still £69 cheaper than Admirals best price , so I'm sure it'll be fine!

I was with Tesco a few years ago, no problems when I had to change a few things.

Admiral seem to be a good bet for new customers but once they have you the price seems to rocket, as for making a claim they will go back through your whole motoring history to find some insignificant undeclared fact to avoid paying out.

I had nothing but problems when sorting my claim with them, it was all little things (IE don't phone in the morning as I'm working nights plus others). ITs a shame that their prices tend to be so much cheaper than everyone else.

Plus their sales team appear to be based in Wales...get a women on the other end and they could sell me anything!

Remember that you get what you pay for.

Two weeks ago I claimed on my Admiral car policy. 5 days later the car had been written off and we'd agreed settlement. 2 days after that I'd received the money. Fantastic service and very helpful at every step of the process.

Endsleigh did that to me. £234 when I joined them. £911 renewal! Switched to AA and paid £299.

Not necessarily. I'd assume Tesco are a partner brand of DLG rather than being an own brand so their pricing could be totally different.

Tesco now go via Tesco Underwriting which is JV with Ageas the ultimate policy could be a legacy DLG policy or something written directly by TU.

...should you not have checked this before you took out the policy? I don't mean to be a dick but if you've not been sure about the intricacies of two separate policies, perhaps that's more your fault than the insurers?

Well to be honest I'd rather not have it and be £69 better off, so would have bought it regardless even if it didn't have that option.
