P1 / 918 / LaFerrari: which supercar makes a daily driver?

But which one would you pick as a daily?

I like the mad dog which is the Huayra, the hitech and usable P1, the stunning LFA but I'd choose an F12 . . . because I liked the 365 Daytona and it seems practical for either a transcontinental run, a trackday and shopping.

For a daily driver, I'd opt for the F12.

Veyron for me. Easy to drive, quiet, comfortable and lots of traction and power. That is if you can afford to run it..

LFA stopped production a year ago, didn't it?

I'd like a P1 or an Agera, but I think an F12 would be better as a daily.

4x4 on our poor condition greasy roads with lots of power would be handy - which ones have ride height adjustment? Key given speed bumps also would need to dismiss any which are too wide for some of the traffic calming narrow sections of the road.

A reasonable dealership coverage in the UK would be a requirement.

From that list only the F12 decent useable luggage space! And even then nearly all those cars are too wide to deal with a large multi story comfortably.

911 and R8 are the only true useable every day supercars. But they aren't the exotica listed above.

A daily driver needs to be a barge for me. I will have the Veyron: the barge of the supercar world and all the better for it.

I have no need to hammer around a circut with blue flames coming from my arse, and fail to declare a ring time in case someone else tries harder and gets registered 0.1 seconds faster.

Not a hypercar but still supercar performance, I'd wager the 12C has just as good a ride as the Veyron whilst being the better steer.

P1 for me, just love it.

Jeepers difficult to choose any hypercar as a daily. If only option is hypercar I reckon of all the LFA most logical due to reliability and ease of use it has a relatively conventional drive train so less chance of unexpected gremlins popping up 10 years down the line and they spent eons developing it, unfortunately it is a Toyota (sorry but badge snobbery is a factor at this level).

Would choose Aventador but it's too big and impractical for use in normal day to day driving, imagine spending 2 hours in bumper to bumper traffic crawling along only able to see out the front and parking would be a chore in a crowded village.

Ideally matt black Ferrari 458 as daily and replica Porsche 917 for when I want to scare the living day lights out of myself on the weekend

Sorry but you can't call the LFA a Toyota and then say you'd have a Lambo! So why is the LFA a Toyota and the Lambo not a VW?

The mileage allowance between services/tyres seems ridiculous... for that alone I would't consider it as a true 'daily driver' as you'd be without it for significant portions of the year.


I had no problem whatsoever using a Gallardo as a daily driver for months on end... I think that sort of level is about as far as you can realistically push it. Anything else becomes too impractical to drive/park/leave unaccompanied.

So a Gallardo or a baby Mclaren would be my choice. If I wasn't quite brave enough for either of those, an r8 or a 911.

You can roll your eyes but with mad dream cars the illogical emotion that comes with the brand plays a part in the experience. It's not entirely fair but it's a similar situation to for example Casio launching a direct competitor to the a watch like a Rolex Submariner or Omega Speedmaster at the same price.

You can't be so nit picky if you don't fully read someone's post the LFA is a brilliant car and my choice car but it IS a Lexus (direct premium division of Toyota like an Audi A4 is to a VW Passat) and that was the only inconsequential negative I gave it. Regardless who owns them the Lambo is still slightly bonkers which is great. A Lexus is a fancy Toyota. Porsches, Veyrons, Lambos or Bentleys are not VW's

I did not put the LFA on my list because I would hesitate thinking it is a supercar. Because it is.

And then I saw one brought to a GW Super Car Sunday:

Ross, you are ruining the dream and your reasoning is quite contrary to any hypercar buying decision.

Okay, my hypercar needs more than 12 cylinders

I haven't been out in a Veyron yet but I can safely say that the 12C is not comfortable. After an hour my back was seriously hurting, even in comfort mode
