Leics to Central London...on a Friday night?

Not had to drive anywhere near London on a Friday for quite some time now but this Friday, I have to...

My options are: M1 all the way, M1>A43>M40 or A-roads (Leics>Kettering>Bedford>Luton>St.Albans>Edgware>Euston)

I know it's gonna be a ball ache...but which option will ache the least?

If the M1 is closed do M69, A46, M40.

I've saved hours by avoiding the M1. Check BBC traffic before you go!

I'd take M1, A43, M40.

In fact I do, quite often. The M40 is a lovely motorway, especially compared with the rolling nightmare that is the M1.

There are speed camera's just as you get to the A40 at Uxbridge, & again before the Ruislip turn off and it just get's slower and slower. By the time you hit hangar lane tunnel (another 2 camera's here) then you'll be crawling along... have fun!

(Just to note, the camera information is correct as of Feb 2013 as that's when I left)

Friday night going into town is usually pretty fluid. You won't be flying along, but you'll be moving at a reasonable rate.

Coming out on a Friday eve or going in on a weekday morn is another matter!

I'd go against the grain here and say m1. I live just off j22 and it's not that terrible anymore. The 4 lanes at Luton really help.

In fact, I will be doing similar this Friday evening too! Working in kent on Saturday.

Most of the traffic is heading OUT of London and UP the m1 on a Friday afternoon/ evening.

If the m1 has an accident or some other such problem, then take m69, m40.
