I've just come across the description of one of those cars, from the 1980s, which make you think : They had to be joking, right ?'

Do you remember the way that Lancia persuaded Ferrari to supply 2.9-litre 308-type vee-8 engines, and transmissions, to drive the front wheels of the otherwise conventional Thema saloon, to make the 8.32 model ? Memory tells me that this combination worked remarkably well, though there were not many lunatics out there willing to pay Lancia's price ....

Did it torque steer I wonder?

THe Thema 8.32. 0-100kph in less than 7 seconds. Apparently not much torque steer due to an adaptive damper system and an electronic spoiler.. A stupidly brave and brilliant idea.
there was one on the bay a little while ago and for the money it was a bargain..
Lancia had some looney ideas that worked. The Dedra turbo being one of them.

My father in law had one until very recently.. before he sold it I did the cambelt and some oil leaks on it (proper engine out job..) Drove it afterwards and whilst not particularly fast by modern standards it was really nice to drive and sounded the biz..
