SORN - has this recently changed then !!

I was about to extend my SORN on my Cerbera as it has been a year since I took it off the road but upon doing so it says on the website "If your vehicle has a SORN which is due to expire, you no longer need to renew the SORN. Your current SORN will remain in force until you tax or tell DVLA that you have sold, scrapped or exported the vehicle. If you need to tax your vehicle, please use your V5C Registration Certificate (log book)." I'm sure I recall previously that people were getting caught out for not renewing it. Oh well, at least sometimes logic gets through the system!!!!

I thought so. I seem to remember being about to SORN my Anglia last year but reading somewhere that it was now considered indefinite, until the car was taxed again.

For an unrelated reason, I did a DVLA vehicle check on it and it comes up unlicensed. I'll SORN it again and may well check it every year just to be on the safe side.

Yes, the need to renew SORN was removed from December 14th last year. I tried to renew mine just after that (thinking that would be the last time) and the site was a bit rubbish at the time, sounds as if they've improved things now. I think a vehicle enquiry now says "SORN declared" with no reference to when it expires.
