Hello so I'm new here but have been lurking for a while lol. Anyway today I was stuck behind a driver doing 25 mph on a 60 mph single carriageway. So he was starting to really annoy me but this road is notorious for bad bends so overtaking isn't easy. Basically I overtook him using a right turn box for on comming traffic and a car was coming the other way, I got back in to my lane before the oncoming car passed me. But would you deem this as dangerous and if the driver of either car had a dash cam could I be prosecuted, I really regret it now but he was stressing me out so much. Cheers in advance

To be honest, its one of those things. Its easy to look back and judge the way you drove but in the heat of the moment people are prone to doing daft things. Personally i would say forget about it, you don't sound like you would risk it again and who are we to judge since we were not there. As for the dash cam, i would imagine if someone did go to the police it would be simply logged but not actioned. When i was younger a boy i bothered with from time to time always drove like a right tit and had a number of complaints against him from the public but only suffered a home visit from the police and a slap on the wrist.
It isn't normally the cleverest thing to do, for many reasons, and can easily leave you open to the opinion based offence of dwdcaa.
Whether the actual overtake was illegal in itself, will depend on the road markings, if the right turn box approach is edged with solid lines, then illegal, broken lines , not illegal.

Professional driver probably not, but was always taught to keep to speed limits as driving too slow is dangerous and a fail in your driving test. And just Googled it you can be fined for driving too slow under careless driving
You're a professional driver if you get paid to drive. So it's your profession. Lorry driver, bus driver, F1 driver or whatever. I have a licence but I'm not a professional driver. I can also kick a ball about but I'm not a professional footballer either. A traffic police woman once told me that overtaking on those sections wasn't something you are likely to be charged for unless causing an obvious risk but should an accident occur then it's going to look very bad for you regardless of who was at fault.
I understand the frustration though and have done the same myself in my younger days.

They are speed limits, not targets. Many a 60mph limit single carriageway will have you in trouble if you attempt to hold the speed limit. Were there any reasons they might have been doing 25mph - looking for a hidden entrance? Fragile cargo? Crap tyres? Atrocious weather conditions?Congratulate yourself OP for giving your driving some thought, if you learn from the event then all is well, no harm done. No-one is perfect all the time.

Yep I understand I probably acted rash in the heat of the moment, and nope weather was clear and I was following him for 3 mile on a 30 road while he did 25mph no issues with that but when he turned into the 60mph road and kept the speed up for a mile I overtook him. The only reason I did it is because I know the road well and the place I overtook him is the only place you can do it on a 9 mile stretch of road. And nope no fragile cargo I could see and doubt the tyres were bad it was a 63 plate car but could be wrong.
